12-year-old Hungarian Wins Contemporary Music Contest

Balogh, who played Burleszk, by Dénes Legány, shared the prize with 27-year-old Matsumoto Mariko from Japan, who played an excerpt from Villanások, by István Láng

 
Twenty-five of the more than 100 participants at the master course competed in the contest, said Szeged University Music Faculty dean Ferenc Kerek. A similar competition will take place next year, he added.
 
The jury for the contest was chaired by Erkel Award-winning composer Máté Hollós. Jury members included master course teachers Mária Temesi, Ferenc Szecsődi and Zoltán Lass.
