For the 13th year, the Titanic Film Festival has been ?seeking out, supporting and presenting innovative, avant garde and alternative film productions,? chief patron of the festival, Minister of Culture András Bozóki said on Friday.
The Ministry of Culture granted HUF 25 million for the event this year and plans to gradually increase support in the upcoming years, Bozóki added.
The 13th Titanic Film Festival will show 50 feature films, 8 documentaries and 3 short films from 31 countries, festival director György Horváth said. Nine films will be in competition. The films chosen for competition have been invited to the festival, but the organisers plan to accept nominations in the future, Horváth added. Hungarian films have not been included in the Titanic competition, because the Hungarian Film Festival ended just last month, he noted.
The three-member jury will include artistic director of the Edinburgh Film Festival Shane Danielson, head of the Norwegian film fund Nils Klevjar Aas and Hungarian film critic György Báron.
Tickets are on sale in advance at a 20 percent discount until the start of the festival. During the festival, tickets will cost HUF 600-830, depending on the venue.
The festival will present films in thematic blocks at four cinemas in Budapest: the Uránia, Kossuth, Toldi and Örökmozgó Filmmúzeum.
