1956 Revolution Is Autumn Theme of Ungarischer Akzent

Berlin will host several events marking the anniversary of the revolution, including talks, films, book launches, photographic exhibitions and an international conference entitled ?The 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Context ? Impact ? Legend?. The events have been coordinated by German institutions and foundations in cooperation with the Hungarian embassy in Germany and Berlin?s Collegium Hungaricum. Events commemorating the revolution have also been organised in Stuttgart by the Hungarian Cultural Institute there together with its partner institutions, as well as in Frankfurt, where an exhibition of photographs will open on September 15. The exhibition, organised by the Hungarian National Museum and Berlin?s Collegium Hungaricum, will take place in St. Paul?s Church, the seat of the Frankfurt Parliament, the first publicly and freely elected body of Germany, in 1848-1849. Frankfurt mayor Petra Roth is slated to speak at the opening of the exhibition, as is Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture István Hiller.
