Minister of National Resources Miklós Réthelyi and ministerial commissioner for the Hungarian State Opera Ádám Horváth insisted Fischer continue to contribute his expertise to the opera and offered him the title of Honorary Chief Musical Director. Fischer accepted the title.

Fischer?s tasks will be outlined at talks with the opera?s future chief musical director.

Fischer noted that the title was now just that, a title, but would be infused with new meaning in the future.

Fischer will continue to work on productions planned for this season, including Mozart?s Ascanio in Alba. No information is available on possible changes to a production of Wagner?s The Flying Dutchman, which Fischer was to help bring to the stage with Balázs Kovalik.
