Fischer noted that German director Matthias Oldag staged a Wagner opera for the first time at this year?s Wagner Days. He added hat Hartmut Schörghofer?s staging of The Ring of the Nibelung, considered daring in 2007, was now fully embraced by audiences.
Fischer said The Master Singers of Nuremberg and Parifal would be on next year?s programme, for the 200th anniversary of Wagner?s birth.
Fischer also wants to see a 2011 premiere of Lohengrin conducted by Gergely Vajda on the programme.
The Ring cycle could return to the festival programme in 2014, he added.
