In a 2005 interview with online literary journal litera.hu, Zádor said he started translating commentary on Hungarian literature into Czech, as he thought Hungarian literature was underrepresented in the country. But he soon began translating Czech works into Hungarian, working for the reputable Prager Publishing House. Among the books he translated were Bohumil Hrabal's Closely Observed Trains as well as works by Ivan Olbracht, Karel Capek and Josef Skvorecky.
