The exhibition space will be in a building which was home to the city?s first museum. Renovated at a cost of HUF 430 million, the exhibition space will open on September 22, during Pécs Days. The exhibition space will have four floors with a combined 1,400 square metres of space. The basement of the building will be home to a ?cellar gallery?, the ground floor will house a so-called information space, one upper floor will host events and the other will provide space for temporary exhibitions.
The first storey will be home to the Antal-Lusztig collection, and graphic works will be shown in the garret, where there will also be a workspace for restorers as well. The entire building has been made accessible to people with physical disabilities.
The new exhibition space will be operated by Pécsi Rendezvényszervező, a public benefit company, but the city will pay for its upkeep. The investment was financed with a fifteen-year lease from a consortium of banks. When the lease is up, the space will come under the ownership of either the city or the public benefit company.
