The Budapest National Museum will open an exhibition on September 26 offering a glimpse into renaissance architecture and presenting outstanding achievements of the period with the use of modern technology, said Rita Rubovszky.

The Palace of Arts will put on display a 21st century technology-based photo exhibition showcasing the most outstanding public buildings of the Neo-Renaissance from September 20.

The Budapest Museum of History will host an exhibition dedicated to Michelangelo and Shakespeare from mid-November.

The focus of the exhibition opening in the Petofi Museum in November will be the only scientific society, the Sodalitas Litteraria Danubiana of the age residing in the renaissance Buda Castle.

The Renaissance Year has been organised to mark the 550th anniversary of the ascension of King Matthias - the "Renaissance King" - to the Hungarian throne in 1457.

The Year's 700 events at 300 venues have so far attracted 3 million visitors.
