Balassi Institute Starts Film Club

The club's first film, to be screened at 2:30pm on October 3, will be Külvárosi őrszoba, directed by Ákos D. Hamza. Shot in 1942, the film is a rare precursor of neorealism. It stars Katalin Karády, István Nagy and Gyula Csortos.

 
On October 10, the renowned director Zoltán Fábri's 1955 film Merry-Go-Round will be shown, and on October 31, his 1963 film Two Half Times in Hell will be screened.
   
The programme for November will start with Géza Bereményi's 1988 film The Midas Touch on the 14th, followed by Péter Gárdos's 1987 film Whooping Cough on the 28th. The season will conclude with Péter Tímár's 1985 film Sound Eroticism.
 
 
Film club leader Csaba Bárdos will introduce the films.
