Banquet Is New TranzDanz Production

English

The production is a true Gesamtkunstwerk, in which music, movement and light all play equally important roles.

?Banquet is like everyday life today, with everyone an associate, ally, liaison, enemy, friend, lover and seducer at the same time. The characters come together for a strange banquet, but nobody knows what they are celebrating or bidding farewell to. ?Banquet? sets out to question and criticize the mediocrity experienced in everyday life in Central-Eastern Europe,? says Kovács of the piece.

Kovács, who was also the founder of Hungary?s first independent folk dance groups, has consistently created works which are insightful and thought-provoking. His productions may involve just one or many dancers and his performers come from a variety of dance backgrounds.

Banquet will be performed at the TRAFÓ House of Contemporary Arts on October 17 and 18.
