Bartók Memorial Prize Winners Recognised

The recipients included opera singers Éva Marton, Andrea Rost, Erika Miklósa, Dénes Gulyás and Ádám Horváth, the actress Anna Kubik, film director Csaba Káel, performer Kamilla Dévai Nagy, and Hungary?s former Minister of Industry Szabolcs Fazakas, who was awarded the prize for his support of the arts.

The recipients of the Award For Hungarian Art were also announced on Monday by Lajos Gubcsi, who chairs the award committee.

The Award For Hungarian Art went to sculptor György Benedek, composer Péter Eötvös, interior designer György Fekete, folk musicians Zoltán Juhász, János Tímár and Viktor Tímár, architect Gábor Turányi, and cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond.

The Award For Hungarian Art was also presented to some Hungarian artists living abroad, including the poets Géza Szőcs and Sándor Gál, the poet and painter István Tari, and the director Attila Vidnyánszky.

Posthumous awards went to Áron Tamási, Lajos Bárdos, Pál Péter Domokos, János Göncz and János Pilinszky.

Éva Kerekes was awarded the István Bubik Prize.

The award gala will take place at the Károlyi Palace on December 5.
