The ceremony, which took place at the Millenáris Teátrum, was hosted by Anita Ábel and Csaba Abaházi. The event was broadcast by Hungarian Television.

 
The Hungarian Rock Record of the Year Award went to Bikini for Őrzöm a lángot, or Watching the Fire in English (EMI), the Hungarian Modern Rock Record of the Year Award went to Subscribe for Stuck Progress To Moon (Hammer Music) and the Hungarian Pop Record of the Year Award went to Mark for Ments meg szerelem!, or Save Me My Love (mTON).
 
The Hungarian Jazz Record of the Year Award went to Loop Doctors for High Voltage (KCG), the Hungarian World Music of the Year Award went to Folkeurópa for Napra Jaj a világ (Oh the World for Sun), while the Hungarian Dance / Electronic Music of the Year Award went to Zagar for Cannot Walk Fly Instead (CLS Music).
 
The Hungarian Entertainment Music Record of the Year Award went to Dóra Szinetár and Zoltán Bereczki for Musical Duet (EMI), the Hungarian Rap / Hip-Hop Record of the Year Award went to Belga for Zigilemez (Zigi Record, 1G), while the Hungarian Children's Music Record of the Year Award went to Attila Kaszás's Kit ringat a bölcső, Janikát..., or Look Who's in the Cradle, Janika... (mTON).
Mark (mTON) was chosen Newcomer of the Year, and Ákos was recognised as the performer of the Hungarian Song of the Year for Adj hitet, or Give Me Faith (Falcon Media). Ákos was also the winner of the DVD category with Még közelebb, or Even Closer (mTON).
 
Fecó Balázs received a lifetime achievement award.
 
The Fonogram 2008 International Award Recipients are: the Eagles for Long Road Out of Eden (rock record), Avenged Sevenfold for Avenged Sevenfold (modern rock record), Amy Winehouse for Back to Black (pop record), David Guetta for Pop Life (dance) and Kanye West for Graduation (rap / hip-hop).
