The "Citizen Havel Memorial Conference" will offer an opportunity to "commemorate and reflect on the honourable heritage of Vaclav Havel", the organisers said. It will also highlight the diverse framework of his Hungarian connections, they added.
The organisers will propose making Havel an honourary citizen of Budapest or a similar gesture that reflects his ties to Hungary and the capital.
Former Hungarian President Árpád Göncz is the patron of the event. The organising partners include the Czech Centre, ELTE University Faculty of Social Sciences, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Ökopolisz Foundation.
