The new club opened on January 5, with performances by the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, Mihály Dresch, Károly Binder and Myrtill Micheller. Gábor Winand and Elemér Balázs joined in an after-concert jam session as well.
The Budapest Jazz Club will offer concerts every night of the week. Additionally, it plans to serve as a venue for stage rehearsals and student concerts, in cooperation with the Liszt Music Academy and the Hungarian Jazz Association.
The club plans to host soon gigs by jazz greats Chick Corea and Gary Burton.
The Budapest Jazz Club's opening follows that of another new jazz club - Take Five, at Paulay Ede utca 2, near the Deák tér underground station - in December.
The Budapest Jazz Club is located at Múzeum utca 7, in the Kossuth Klub, near the Kálvin tér underground station.
