The 8th Bridge Festival will take place on and around the capital?s famous Chain Bridge, which will be closed to vehicles for the day. Events will be held at Clark Ádám Square on the Buda side of the bridge, as well at Roosevelt Square on the Pest side. The festival, which has proven especially popular among families and foreign visitors is expected to attract tens of thousands of people, depending on the weather.
The 16th Budapest Farewell will take place on the Chain Bridge, at the Vajdahunyad Castle in the capital?s Városliget park, and on Heroes? Square.
On the first day of the programme, the Chain Bridge will be transformed into a ?dance bridge?, with folk dance and belly dance performances. In the evening the Experidance dance troupe will perform selections from their most popular productions. On Sunday, the Chain Bridge will become a ?music bridge?, with folk and world music performances by Bea Palya, Kálmán Balogh and the Csík group, among others. The evening will finish with performances by Tumba y Quema and David Dely, who played to great acclaim at this year?s Budapest Fringe Festival.
At Heroes? Square, The Budapest Festival Orchestra, under the direction of Iván Fischer, will play Bartók?s Hungarian Pictures and Beethoven?s Seventh Symphony. The streets around the square will be closed to traffic during the event.
