The festival programme includes film screenings, concerts, public discussions and sightseeing cycle trips.

Associated with the Budapest Pride march on July 7, the festival aims to draw attention to the LGBTQ community and prejudices against them; it is expected to bring the community closer to the majority of society, the organisers said.

Dorottya Karsay and Péter Hanzil said the opening event will be held at the Odeon Lloyd cinema and include speeches by the legal expert Laszlo Majtenyi and the Polish transgender lawmaker Anna Grodzka. János Kulka will sing and Virág Erdős will give a poetry reading.

The festival's opening film, entitled Parade, is about the 2010 Belgrade Pride event. Over eight days, 24 films will be shown at 41 screenings.

The Bálint House will host discussions on topics, such as adoption possibilities for LGBTQ people, legal protection against attacks and controversial personalities in Hungary's LGBTQ history.

The French Institute will host concerts by Veronika Harcsa, Bálint Gyémánt and the Continuo baroque and renaissance music group. Alinda Veiszer will host a literary event with the participation of authors Zsófia Bán, Ádám Nádasdy and Lajos Nagy Party.

Community events during the festival will include speed dating, sightseeing cycle trips, walking tours and an open mic event for everyone to show their talent. The Bálint House will host LGBTQ-friendly Christian and Jewish services during the festival.

Karsay said the Budapest Pride event on July 7 will involve an afternoon picnic with a civil village, concerts and other events in the City Park from where the parade will start.
