Born near Paris in 1957, Cinelu is among the most sought-after percussionists today. His contribution always adds a unique and immediately recognizable sound to all different types of music.
The long list of jazz albums he has played on include Miles Davis? ?Amandla? and Pat Metheny?s ?Imaginary Day?, as well as several albums by Weather Report, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, Dizzy Gillespie, Cassandra Wilson, Branford Marsalis, Wayne Shorter and Paquito D'Rivera. But his broad musical catalogue also includes work and tours with Sting, Lou Reed, Tori Amos and Tracy Chapman. Cinelu has also tried his hand at world music and art-rock, with Laurie Anderson. And he will not stop experimenting. The proof is a new flamenco trio formed with singer Miguel Mipuente and singer-guitar player Paco el Lobo. Fascinating rhythmic diversity and rich atmospheres have become Cinelu?s trademark features, and these will appear in this exciting flamenco, masterfully mixed with sorrowful jazz tunes.
Cinelu?s Flame and Co Trio will play on Budapest?s A38 ship at 20:00 on March 8. Tickets are available in advance for HUF 2,300, or for HUF 2,800 at the door.
