Chopin, Picnic, Birdsong

English

A bus from the Polish Institute in Budapest, packed with interested people, arrived in Gödöllő just as it started to rain. This caused some uncertainty as to the whether guests, and musicians, should stay in the school?s leafy courtyard or move inside.

In the end, the cellist Albert Márkos, accompanied by Máté Pozsár on piano, started to play outside, but under the eave of the school?s roof. Péter Gemza improvised a dance to the music in the wet grass and mud. Birds in the courtyard seemed to react to the music with song, but a dog also ?commented? on the concert.

The statue of Chopin, playing for a pair in ecstasy, in the school?s courtyard was the backdrop for the event which came off a bit like a student-organised production.
