The city is willing to part with the castle for a token price of HUF 1, if the buyer commits to a full restoration, Mayor Klára Perjési said.

Two tenders called earlier to restore the castle, which has stood empty for more than seven years, were unsuccessful. As the castle is listed, any changes to its original plan would require approval by the National Office of Cultural Heritage (KÖH). Earlier, there were plans to turn the castle into a hotel, but these were nixed after KÖH said it was unlikely to approve the construction of any additional service buildings at the site because of an archaeological dig there. It is thought that a Turkish bath or a mosque may have once stood on the site of the castle.
