The Collegium Hungaricum and the local office of Magyar Turizmus have published a list of events that include ones focusing on the hundredth anniversary of the birth of the Swedish diplomat Raul Wallenberg, who saved tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews in the Holocaust; the Danbube Strategy; and sport.

The programme of events is launching with a concert by the International Danube Philharmonic, featuring Austrian, Hungarian and Slovak soloists, at the Hungarian embassy on Wednesday evening, said Collegium Hungaricum director Márton Méhes. The concert will be attended by government commissioner for the Danube Strategy Balázs Medgyesy, he added.

An exhibition on Wallenberg as well as a book launch will take place in the spring. Other events commemorating the centenary will take place during the year.

In April, a show of Hungarian and Austrian sport will open and the Collegium Hungaricum will screen films about sport.

The Collegium Hungaricum and Magyar Turizmus?s office in Vienna first published a joint programme of Hungarian-themed events in 2011, when Hungary took over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of the year.
