The partners opened an exhibition at the Spanish cultural institute called An die Grenze gehen showing the work of the artists on Thursday. The show includes pieces by the sculptor András Kállai, the painter Mara Omara-Oláh, the photographer Soma y Luz and the painter Trinidad Fernandez. The show, which runs until the middle of October, examines the question of what role Roma art plays in Europe.
The Collegium Hungaricum will host a concert by the Budapest-based Dromara and the Spanish guitarist Diego Amador.
The Instituto Cervantes will show theatre performances and hold talks. A talk entitled The Roma and Their Culture in 21st Century Europe will have as one of its participants Angéla Kócze of the Hungarian Academy of Science?s Minority Research Institute.
The series is timed to coincide with the inauguration of a memorial to the Roma and Sinti victims of the Nazi regime in Berlin on October 25.
