The first Cinema Total was a day-long event. This year's festival aims to raise the profile of the Hungarian film industry by giving filmmakers a platform at one of Europe's most important cinematic events. In the focus will be an agreement signed a year ago by Hungary and Germany that seeks to encourage contacts and cooperation between filmmakers in both countries, said Collegium Hungaricum director János Can Togay.
Cinema Total Second Edition - Filmhaus Ungarn will kick off on February 6, the day after the launch of the Biennale, with a special event showing the cooperation between British film director Peter Greenaway and Hungarian composer and DJ Yonderboi.
The joint production could best be compared to a dance at which neither the music nor the images dominate, but instead one leads the other and vice versa, Yonderboi said. He added that working with Greenaway had forced him to disassemble and reinterpret his own music.
The Hungarian actress Orsi Tóth, who represents Hungary in the Shooting Star programme of the Biennale, will get a special introduction at the opening of Cinema Total.
