Ádám Horváth and Géza Szőcs

Géza Szőcs, state secretary in charge of culture at the Ministry of National Resources, said the review of the opera?s financial operations aimed to ease tensions that developed over the past months.

Horváth will carry out the review with a committee of 8-10 members.

The committee will be made up of legal and financial experts from the National Resources Ministry as well as a foreign advisor, Horváth said. The committee members will receive no remuneration, he added.

Explaining his vision for the opera, Horváth said performers who exit the stage with the applause of a grateful audience ought to feel rewarded, while the opera house operates without generating a loss. He conceded the vision might seem utopian but said it could become reality.

?We have already discussed a few points with chief director Lajos Vass and I believe we will be able to work together well,? Horváth said.
