Sebastian Koch and Martina Gedeck in The Life of Others

Das Leben der Anderen (The Life of Others) and Mein Bruder (My Brother) both deal with the manner in which the communist past is treated in Germany. Im Schwitzkasten (In the Sweat Chamber), Elbe (Elba) and Offset focus on the problem of unemployment. The festival's organisers have picked the films to call attention to these issues and provoke discussion.

The festival, called Sehenswert (Worth Seeing), will open with Ein Freund von mir (A Friend of Mine), director Sebastian Schipper's second feature, starring Jürgen Vogel and Daniel Brühl. The director will attend the screening.

The director of Offset, Didi Danquart, as well as its lead, Anna Stieblich, will also attend the festival.

Screenings will take place at the Örökmozgó and Művész cinemas, in the original language with simultaneous translation.
