The review, cited by local daily Új Dunántúli Napló, says the condition of a roof structure the theatre shares with a neighbouring block of flats presents a dangerous situation.
Pécs deputy mayor Csaba Nagy blamed his predecessors for failing to tackle the problem, but said the local council was now determined to take action. The intervention will not disturb the operation of the theatre, he added.
The theatre's last renovation was in 1987.
