Bunkers and other buildings at the site, a former Russian army barracks in the village of Etyek, near Budapest, have been dismantled and earth moving equipment has started the first phase of construction. A road to the studio and another bypassing it will soon be started. Filming could start at the studio as early as next spring.
Six studios at the complex will range in size from 1,100 to 6,300 square metres. Some will also be equipped for scenes on water.
The studio is expected to require a permanent staff of 100-250 professionals, but big productions could create work for a further 1,000-1,500 people.
The studio has started establishing connections with foreign filmmakers and will start a more directed marketing effort in the coming months.
