Groups with between two and six members may apply in the contest. Groups may apply in either the Hungarian folk music category or the world music category, though the latter should reflect the spirit and music of areas in the Carpathian basin.
Groups should not have recorded an album, although self-published recordings or ones published by professional organizations, such as the House of Traditions, do not disqualify potential participants.
Groups should not have a publisher or a manager in Hungary or abroad as the winners will sign contracts with Hungarian and American management event and organisers.
New groups comprised of established musicians may not apply.
To apply, groups must submit two demo songs in MP3 format by email or on a CD by post. The two songs must not be more than 15 minutes.
Additionally, groups must submit a description of themselves (about 1,500 letters), their contact information, any links to a homepage and a high-resolution digital photograph.
Groups must pay a HUF 3,000 registration fee.
