The organisers want to involve all of the city?s institutions, businesses and civil organisations at this year?s event, Szentei said.
As part of this effort, prizes will be awarded to shops with the best floral displays in their windows in the weeks before the festival on August 20.
The Reformed Church Foundation will organise children?s programmes in Baltazár Dezső Square on the days before the carnival.
A flower arrangement contest will be held on August 15.
This year?s festival will again start with a parade of bicycles decorated with flowers. The parade was held for the first time last year and drew thousands of cyclists.
The Flower Carnival?s main event will be a parade of 24 floats each covered with some 3 million flowers. Half of the floats will be designed by foreign artists.
