Corbijn Star Photos Far From Ordinary

English

Corbijn's secret is that his pictures are taken under imperfect conditions. They have an intentional "lack of quality" that makes them all the more receptive to their subjects. Corbijn uses neither sets nor props for his portraits. He takes them against a wall, perhaps together with the subject's shadow, but never in a special location. The effect is strongly effective and offers a reassessment of the way stars are generally portrayed in the media.

The exhibition, part of the Nincs Lehetlen - Holland Kultfeszt, features Corbijn's photographs as well as screenings of his films, among them Control, his critically-acclaimed look at Joy Division front man Ian Curtis, who committed suicide in 1980 at the age of 24.
