Szentpéteri started playing the piano at the age of seven, showing a sensitive ear and a special sense of rhythm. After her musical studies at the Mako Music School, she continued her piano studies at the Bartók Conservatory in Szeged. Later she went to the Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, where she graduated summa cum laude.
After graduating, she returned to the academy as a member of the faculty for five years.
Szentpéteri has toured extensively in Europe and the United States. One of the turning points of her career came in 1995, when she played a series of concerts with the conductor and pianist Tamás Vásári, who introduced her to Sir György Solti. The great conductor expressed his admiration for Szentpéteri's talents.
Szentpéteri's latest recording, Lava, was released in 2005.
