Veér was picked over two other applicants to use the violin.
The applications were evaluated by a panel of musicians and musicologists.
Veér must make an annual report on the condition and use of the instrument to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Musicology Institute.
The violin, made in the early 1900s, was bought at auction in 2004.
