Culture minister opens world conference of poets in Budapest

Istvan Hiller said he was grateful that Hungary was in the position to host the five-day conference, attended by some 100 poets from 28 countries. "Language, literature and poetry for Hungarians mean a lot more than mere tools of communication between people," he said. "Hungary is for cultural diversity; diversity is strength, while uniformity rubs against human nature," he added.
