Muntadas's latest exhibition, entitled Situations, is a series of images of airline passengers passing through the cafes, restaurants and waiting areas of airports around the world. In the "situations", recorded in both photographs and video, the artist shows his subjects from a completely objective point of view. Often there is an intentional ambiguity about the pictures: in one we see just the silhouettes of travelers like faceless shadows; in others groups of people congregate only to separate in another image.
Muntadas was born in Barcelona in 1942, but he has lived in New York since 1971. His latest exhibition travelled to Los Angeles, New York, Halle, Porto and Stuttgart before coming to Budapest.
