To mark the occasion, the festival's organisers screened Directors on a Thread, in which Szabó and his friend and colleague Jirí Menzel speak about their careers, Budapest and Prague, and even their views on the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
Directors on a Thread producer Judit Ujvári attended the screening.
The Bratislava International Film Festival is showing more than 200 films on its programme this year. The Hungarian director György Pálfi is on the festival jury.
