There were nine films in competition for the main award which comes with a cash prize of 10,000 euros, offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The international jury consisted of editor-in-chief of the British film magazine Sight and Sound Nick James, director of the Tallinn Black Night Film Festival Tiina Lokk and renowned Hungarian director Peter Gothar.
The festival's audience award went to US director Wes Anderson's stop-motion animated feature Fantastic Mr Fox, which is based on the Roald Dahl children's novel of the same name.
The student jury award went to the Iranian film About Elly, directed by Asghar Farhadi.
The most successful films at the festival were the Danish documentary The Red Chapel and the Swedish animated science-fiction film Metropia.
