Wintermans was welcomed after his 23-day ride at a press conference in Budapest?s Estonian Institute on Wednesday.
Wintermans said he was prepared for rain and cold nights on his trip but encountered temperatures over 20 degrees Celsius in the evenings.
He slept just five nights in commercial accommodations during the trip, camping the rest of the time.
Wintermans is already planning his 2012 European Capital of Culture cycling tour, which will take him to Maribor in Slovenia and Guimaraes in Portugal.
