As well as raising the profiles of the 2010 European Capital of Culture cities, Wintermans aims to promote sport, a healthy lifestyle and environmental responsibility. He will also explore the reality of the notion of European unity on the way.
He plans to start his trip from Essen on April 10 and reach Istanbul on June 22, crossing 17 countries on the way.
