The travelling exhibition features 40 works by Picasso, and nearly 60 more from artists such as Andy Warhol, Joan Miró, Henry Moore and Victor Vasarely initiated by the German critic and publisher Wieland Schmied to celebrate Picasso's 90th birthday.
The exhibition has already been to the Hungarian cities of Szeged, Szombathely and Veszprém. It can be seen in Eger until January 31, 2009.
Another Picasso exhibition in Hungary, at the Alföldi Gallery in the city of Hódmezővásárhely, in southeast Hungary, has drawn more than 5,000 visitors since opening at the beginning of October. The exhibition shows works by Picasso from his years in the commune of Vallauris in the Cőte d'Azur region of southern France.
Picasso lived in Vallauris between 1948 and 1955. During this time, he developed a fascination with ceramics and linocuts. He also contributed greatly to the Vallauris pottery industry.
