About 20 stage productions will be shown between March 27 and 31. Additionally, musical events will take place every evening.
Monodrama is a very sincere form of theatre, according to theatre director Tibor Csizmadia. An actor stands on the stage and within minutes it turns out whether he or she is able to keep the audience's attention. The audience observes not only what the actor says but also his or her style, appearance, their way of thinking and how he or she can occupy the stage and offer an overall experience to the audience, she added.
Csizmadia said the festival was held only every second year because experience has shown it takes two years for a sufficient range of performances to develop for the organisers to choose from.
The Monodrama Festival has developed a fan base, Csizmadia said. Some people come to as many as 80 percent of the performances, which has prompted the organisers to issue a special festival pass, he added.
The list of performers at this year's festival includes Enikő Eszenyi, Eszter Csákány, Béla Fesztbaum and András Kern.
The musical events feature Ferenc Darvas, Mariann Falusi and Tibor Bornai.
