The 7,800-square-metre centre, dubbed Agria Agóra, will include an events hall that can seat 600, said the city's chief architect Attila Rátkai. The lower level of the building will house an underground car park, a youth club, a children's play area, practice rooms, dressing rooms, rehearsal spaces and a cafeteria, he added.
The Agóra will also be home to the city's local television broadcaster.
The centre, next to the city's biggest park, is expected to be completed by June 2011.
The grant for the project was the first announced under the HUF 14.6bn Agóra Programme, tailored for county seats which are not regional centres.
