President of the Baranya County General Assembly János Hargitai said two bids were submitted in the tender, but one was HUF 1.4 billion over the HUF 1.3 billion budget and the other was HUF 1.7bn over the budget.
The tender winner was to have been decided by the end of January. Now that a new tender must be called, the process will be delayed at least two months, Mr Hargitai said. The construction of the centre is expected to take 16 months, he added.
The regional library and information centre will have 13,000 square metres of space on four floors. It will have two lecture halls with 200 seats and a 150-seat conference room.
