The documentary, directed by Johanna Rieger, shows a forum of European Film Academy members discussing the role of film at a time when Europe is in the midst of a crisis.
Filmmakers also share their personal experiences in the documentary. Volker Schlöndorff talks about directing Bizet?s Carmen for theatre and Wim Wenders discusses his recent tribute to the late dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch. Michel Hazanavicius, Stephen Frears, Aki Kaurismäki and László Kántor are interviewed too.
The second part of the documentary, which has interviews with the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, who played the villian in Casino Royal, and Jette Lehmann, who made the production design for Lars von Trier?s Melancholia, will air on m1 on January 19.
