Gabriella Vörös, the museum?s director, has signed the contract for financing for the project, with HUF 214 million coming from ROP and the rest from the local council of Szeged.
Because of the project, the museum will meet European standards within just one year. The foyer will be refurbished, a museum shop, cafeteria and cloakroom will be built, air-conditioning will be installed, the building will be made accessible to the physically disabled and a special lighting system will be set up in the exhibition areas. The museum will also be transformed into a tourist information centre, with the installation of touch-screen information booths offering information in three languages about the region?s attractions as well as the museum.
The museum will remain open during the refurbishment project, which is expected to start in September.
