Festival Celebrates Contemporary Hungarian Music, Literature

English

The site for this year?s festival will be the tiny village of Hegymagas, north of Lake Balaton.

Festival organiser Géza Gémesi warned that the festival may not appeal to everybody?s taste ? the programme includes challenging works by contemporary Hungarian composers such as Vidovszky, Jeney, Sáry, Csapó, Serei, Kurtág and Dukay, as well as readings from the writings of contemporary Hungarian authors, such as György Konrád and Lajos Parti Nagy ? neither will it be for the ?narrow professional elite?. Rather it will be an opportunity to withdraw and encounter oneself through art.

The festival will feature Gábor Csalog, the husband and wife team Dezsö Ránki and Edit Klukon, Barnabás Dukay, László Sáry and the Rondino Chamber Orchestra. Performances will be free of charge.
