In addition to a line-up of world music stars, this year's Happy Art Festival will feature theatre performances, film screenings and countless other attractions.
Among the around 200 hours of live world music on the festival programme will be Sivan Perwer, the most famous Kurdish musician in the world. Perwer will bring the music of his people to the stage on the evening of September 4.
Zamballarana, a polyphonic ensemble from Corsica, will play on September 2, and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band will perform with their virtuoso Ukrainian singer on September 5.
Habib Koité & Bamada will bring the musical traditions of Mali to Nyíregyháza on August 29, and the great ska band Ska Cubano will play on August 30. Russian musical ambassadors Terem Quartet is on the bill for September 3, and Ana Moura will perform Portuguese fado on August 31.
Festival-goers can see local acts Muzsikás, Ghymes, Magyarpalatkai Banda, the Nikola Parov Quartet, Méta, Söndörgő and Cimbaliband. On September 3, Szeptember 3-án, 19 órától rendhagyó prímástalálkozóra kerül sor. Mihály Dresch, Kálmán Balogh és MiklósBoth, Pál István "Szalonná", Vizeli Balázs, Ágnes Herczku and Évá Korpás.
This year, the festival organisers have set up another stage, next to the Korzó Business Centre, in addition to the main stage. The smaller stage will host three performances a day between 3pm and 7pm. The first performance of the afternoon will always be geared toward children.
On the Happy Art Festival's theatre programme are performances of Goldoni's Mirandolina by the Comic Theatre, Ignác Nagy's A Local Election by the New Theatre and Maugham's Nuptials by the Thália Theatre.
