(MTI) - The restaurant marquees offer a lot of Hungarian food - and Hungarian wine and palinka - but Chinese, Serbian, South American specialities as well. Frog's legs fried in bread crumbs, stuffed snails, garlic doughnuts and of course goulash and stuffed cabbage are top sellers.
Stars of Sziget's programme, including Iron Maiden or Alanis Morissette are served dishes specially prepared by Portuguese culinary celebrity Miguel Vieira.
The municipal waterworks has installed fountains and distributed drinking water to mitigate the effects of the extremely hot weather. During the week-long festival, participants are estimated to use a total of 8,000 cubic metres of water.
Four or five doctors are on duty at any time at the festival's three first-aid units and an ambulance is on standby to help should someone have an emergency. So far, the "regular" bruises and minor cases of indisposition have been attended to and one person, suspected to have appendicitis, was hospitalised, health staff told MTI.
