Films from Iran, France Take Prizes in Miskolc

Woman Without Men

The Jameson CineFest main prize, named after Miskolc-born Academy Award-winning filmmaker Emeric Pressburger, went to the Iranian film Woman Without Men, directed by Shirin Neshat in collaboration with Shoja Azari, said festival communications director Péter Muszatics.

 
A question-and-answer session with Neshat, who was a guest of the festival, was one of the week?s most successful events, he added.
 
 Father of My Children

The jury?s Grand Prix Special went to French director Mia Hansen-Love?s film Father of My Children, Muszatics said.

 
Lili Horváth?s Sunstroke received the main prize in the short and experimental film section and Briar March?s There Once Was an Island received the main prize in the documentary film section.
 
The main prize in the animation film section, named after the animator Attila Dargay, who recently died, went to Tünde Molnár for the film I Am Simon.
 
The foreign critics? prize was presented by unanimous vote to Ágnes Kocsis for her film Adrienn Pál. The film had its Hungarian premiere at the festival.

Miklós Jancsó and Káli Sándor

A lifetime achievement award was granted to veteran filmmaker Miklós Jancsó who gave a master course at the festival.

 
The festival, which took place on September 10-19, had 14 feature films in competition and six features outside of the competition. More than 50 animated, documentary and short films were shown, and four classic films made up the CineClassics block. There were three exhibitions, two workshops and four conferences
