(MTI) - The exhibition presents some 200 works by Robert Bereny, Dezso Czigany, Bela Czobel, Karoly Kernstok, Odon Marffy, Dezso Orban, Bertalan Por and Lajos Tihanyi, 20th century Hungarian painters who were inspired by the French Fauves, primarily Matisse and Cezanne.
An outstanding piece among the works is Dezso Orban's reclining female nude dated 1912, on loan from Australia, which had been believed lost and is now on display for the first time after more than 90 years.
Another highlight of the exhibition is Bela Czobel's recently discovered paintings from 1905, which are regarded as landmark pieces of his Paris period.
Several rooms are dedicated to works made by Karoly Kernstok in Nyergesujfalu in northern Hungary, where the group was formed.
The exhibition running until September 12 also shows a documentary made about the group's work, and visits to schools and workshops in Paris.
