Finnish Filmmaker Wins Cinefest Main Award

Communication director for the festival Péter Muszatics said the jury's special prize went to the Hungarian director Áron Mátyássy for the film Lost Times, and the Hope of Future prize for best Hungarian short film, as well as the student jury's prize, went to Cecilia Felméri for the erotic tale Cuckoo.
 
Zlota Rybka from Poland received the prize for best documentary, and the prize for best animated film went to David Lopez for the Retamero. The international critics' jury gave their prize to Duncan Jones for the film Moon, and the CineFest - Dazoo.com online competition was won by Dániel Villányi for the film Boxed.

The CineFest Life Achievement award went to Polish cinematographer Slawomir Idziak, who has worked with the likes of Krzysztof Kieslowski and who also held a master course in Miskolc during the festival.
 
Scottish director Kevin Macdonald visited the festival to talk about his Academy Award-winning grandfather Emmeric Pressburger, a native of Miskolc. A workshop was also held about films that deal with the post-communist transformation.
 
A programme entitled Roma-Image had "participants analyse this important and sensitive subject sincerely and seriously", and a thematic selection was made focusing on women, Muszatics said.
 
The festival programme also included concerts by Veronika Harcsa, Zagar and the Singas Project. The Hungarian director György Pálfi showed his talents as a DJ on one evening.
