Finnish ambassador to Hungary Jari Vilen spoke about the museum after dedicating a memorial plaque at the palace together with Finnish farm minister Jari Koskinen.

The plaque pays homage to the residents of Iszkaszentgyörgy who provided shelter to the staff of the Finnish embassy in 1944, when they fled to escape the bombing in Budapest.

Zoltán Molnár, deputy-chief of the Hungarian National Asset Management Company (MNV), said the Hungarian state would strive to provide all necessary support for the establishment of the museum.

Iszkaszentgyörgy Mayor Attila Gál expressed hope that the establishment of the museum would clear the way for the full renovation of the place.

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö plans to visit the palace when he comes to Hungary in September for the World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples.
